किसी कहानी, अफवाह या जानकारी को इस तरह फैलाना कि वह बहुत लोगों तक पहुँच जाए, अक्सर जब वह सच या पुष्टि नहीं होती।

यह अभिव्यक्ति आमतौर पर ब्रिटिश अंग्रेज़ी में और अनौपचारिक रूप में इस्तेमाल होती है, खासतौर पर अफवाह या अपुष्ट जानकारी के लिए। अमेरिकी अंग्रेज़ी में 'spread' ज़्यादा चलता है।
