文字通りは銃の引き金を引くこと。比喩的には、長く考えた後に最終的な決断をすること。

日常会話やビジネスの決断時によく使われる表現。「pull the trigger on a deal」は「取引を決断する」などに相当。フォーマルな文書には適さない。
