هذه تعبير اصطلاحي يستخدم في الحديث اليومي وغير الرسمي عند قطع الدعم أو تغيير الخطط بشكل مفاجئ. غالباً ما تأتي عبارة 'pull the rug out from under someone'. لا يُستخدم حرفياً، ويوضح عادة شعور خيبة الأمل أو الخيانة.
