Definition

몸이나 마음이 극도로 쇠약해진 상태 또는 극진한 존경이나 예배를 위해 바닥에 엎드리는 행위.

공식적, 문학적, 종교적 맥락에서 주로 쓰이며 일상에서 드물다. ‘prostration’은 극심한 쇠약함이나 예배 시 몸을 엎드리는 의미 모두에 쓰인다.
