বেশিরভাগ সময় আনুষ্ঠানিক বা আইনগত পরিবেশে ব্যবহৃত হয়। সাধারণত 'prohibit someone from doing' গঠন হয়। 'prevent from' থেকে আলাদা, কারণ এটি কেবল সরাসরি নিষেধাজ্ঞা বোঝায়।
