Evde ya da bilinen bir yerde amaçsızca rahat bir şekilde dolaşmak veya küçük işlerle oyalanmak anlamına gelir.

Günlük konuşmada, özellikle Britanya İngilizcesinde yaygın. 'potter about the house' gibi kullanımda genellikle yer eklenir. Olumsuz anlam içermez, rahat bir zamanı anlatır.
