物をこすってピカピカにしたり、技術や文章などをさらによく仕上げたりすること。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
靴や家具を「磨く」と具体的に使えるが、能力や文章をより良くする時「仕上げる」とも言う。「polishes his English」は英語を上達させる意味。
