静かにする黙る

Definition

誰かにうるさいから静かにしてほしい時や、騒がないでほしい時に使う表現です。

カジュアルで少しきつい言い方なので、親しい友人や家族、子供に使います。丁寧な場面や目上の人には使わないでください。「Can you pipe down?」は「静かにしてくれる？」のような意味です。

Please pipe down, I'm trying to study.

お願いだから**静かにして**、勉強中なんだ。

The teacher told the class to pipe down.
