Definition

在继续之前，暂时停止某个动作或声音；也指说话、音乐或动作中的短暂停顿。

“pause” 既可以作名词（短暂停顿），也可以作动词（短暂停止）。常用于对话、音乐和电子设备（如“暂停视频”）。比“stop”柔和，不表示完全结束。

I pressed the button to pause the movie.
