অধিকাংশ সময় পুলিশ, নিরাপত্তারক্ষী বা সৈন্যরাই এটি করেন। সাধারণত 'patrolled the streets', 'patrolled the border' রকমের বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয়। সবসময় অতীত কাল বোঝায়।
