어떤 지역의 안전을 위해 정기적으로 돌아다니며 감시하거나, 그런 일을 하는 사람들 또는 팀을 의미함.

주로 경찰, 군인, 경비원 등과 함께 사용됨. 'patrol the streets', 'border patrol' 같이 씀. 동사나 명사 모두 가능. 한 번 순찰은 '순찰을 돌다'라고 함.

Police officers patrol the streets at night.
