"Patching" significa consertar ou cobrir um buraco ou problema em algo, como roupas, paredes ou software. Em tecnologia, também se refere a atualizar um programa para corrigir erros ou problemas de segurança.

Usado tanto para conserto de roupas quanto em tecnologia. Em TI, "patching" é atualizar para corrigir falhas. Não confundir com "matching" (combinar). Expressões comuns: "patching the holes", "patching up the system".
