스포츠에서 'pass the ball to John'은 '존에게 공을 패스하다'라는 뜻. 일상에서는 '다음 사람에게 넘기다'처럼 쓴다. 'pass out'(나눠주다/기절하다), 'pass away'(죽다)와 혼동하지 말 것.
