Definition

主に対立する両者が争いを解決するために持つ、形式的で歴史的な会談や話し合いを指します。現代ではほとんど使われない古い言葉です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

文学や歴史的な文脈でのみ見られる非常に古い言葉です。現代会話や一般的なビジネス等では使いません。「parley」の方がわずかに一般的ですが、どちらも形式的です。
