जब कोई चीज़ ज़रूरत से कहीं ज़्यादा हद तक की जाती है; स्थिति के हिसाब से ज़रूरत से अधिक प्रयास, साधन या ताक़त का प्रयोग करना।

आमतौर पर अनौपचारिक रूप में, कभी-कभी मज़ाक या आलोचना के लिए। सिर्फ़ हिंसा नहीं, किसी भी ज़रूरत से ज़्यादा चीज़ के लिए कहा जाता है ('ये ज़्यादती है').
