外の世界

Definition

特定の場所や集団の外にある人々や場所、物事のこと。特に閉ざされた環境から見た外部全体を指す表現。

主に閉ざされた場所や限られた集団と外の社会全体との対比で使われます。「the outside world」とセットで使うことが多いです。単なる屋外の意味では使いません。

He dreamed about the outside world while he was in prison.
