「orbits」は、特に宇宙で何かが曲線の軌道でまわること、またはその軌道自体を表します。

主に宇宙や科学の文脈で使います。「The Earth orbits the sun」のように動詞、「the orbits of two comets」のように名詞形で使います。

The Earth orbits the sun once every year.
