Genellikle gayriresmî ya da nötr bir ifadedir. Süreçler, projeler, durumlar için kullanılır. 'get', 'keep', 'stay' ile sıkça kullanılır. Tersi 'off the rails' (kontrolsüz). Gerçek tren yolu anlamında değil.
