Bir kişinin özellikle borç, hata veya yükümlülük gibi bir şeyden sorumlu olduğu ya da sonucundan dolayı hesap vermek zorunda olduğu durum.
Usage Notes (Turkish)
Gündelik konuşmada, borç, suç ya da zorunluluk durumlarında yaygındır: 'on the hook for the bill' demek faturayı ödemek zorunda kalmak anlamına gelir. Olumlu sorumluluklar için kullanılmaz.
