本物や正確なものではないが、ある程度それに似ている場合に使われる表現です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

カジュアルや少し控えめな場合によく使われます。「a leader of sorts」のように、本物や完全ではないことを含んでいます。人名の後ろには使いません。
