Definition

공간, 자리, 역할 등이 누군가나 무언가에 의해 채워지거나 점령되는 것을 의미함.

수동태로(예: '~에 의해 점령되다') 자주 쓰이며, 장소, 좌석, 지역, 직위 등에서 사용. '바쁘다'는 뜻에는 쓰지 않음(그럴 때는 'occupied with' 사용).

This seat is occupied by my friend.

이 자리는 내 친구에 의해 **차지되어 있어요**.

The house was occupied by a large family.

그 집은 대가족에 의해 **차지되어 있었어요**.

All the rooms are occupied by guests.
