आमतौर पर मुख्य संख्या के रूप में प्रयोग होता है और 'cloud nine' (बहुत खुश) जैसे वाक्यांशों में मिलता है। पते, खेल और समय (जैसे 'नौ बजे') में भी आता है। 'ninth' (नौंवा) से न मिलाएँ।
