السرد هو فعل سرد قصة أو وصف أحداث، خاصة في الكتابة أو الأفلام أو كتعليق صوتي.

يستخدم 'narration' غالبًا في الأدب والأفلام والوثائقيات للإشارة إلى السرد أو التعليق الصوتي. هو تعبير رسمي. لا يخلط مع 'dialogue' (حوار بين أشخاص) أو 'description' (شرح تفاصيل). من الشائع قول 'voice narration' أو 'first-person narration'.
