Definition

修道院とは、僧侶や修道女が宗教や精神修養のために共同生活をする場所です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にキリスト教や仏教の宗教施設について使われます。教会や通常のお寺には使いません。「build（建てる）」「visit（訪れる）」などの動詞とよく一緒に使います。複数形で、単数形は「修道院」です。
