मुख्यतः वैज्ञानिक, अकादमिक और रोज़मर्रा के संदर्भ में किसी भी चीज़ को गणित से जोड़ने के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है। प्रायः संज्ञा से पहले आता है: 'mathematical problem', 'mathematical model'। व्यक्ति के लिए नहीं, उसके लिए 'mathematician' उपयोग करें।
