仮面劇は16〜17世紀に流行した、音楽やダンス、華やかな衣装を用いた宮廷向けの劇です。時に仮面舞踏会を指すこともあります。

現代日本語では主に歴史・文学用語として使われます。現代のパーティーは「仮面舞踏会」と言います。仮面劇は芸術的・様式的な物語を指すこともあります。
