Definition

「メインス」は建物の主な電気や水道の供給、またはイギリス英語では食事のメインディッシュを指します。

設備関連では「メイン」ではなく「メインス」と複数形で使います。食事では「メインディッシュ」と表現します。米語ではこの使い方は一般的ではありません。

The house is connected to the mains for electricity and water.

その家は電気と水道の**メイン**に接続されています。

After the storm, the mains were restored quickly.
