Definition
En náutica, significa girar la proa del barco más hacia el viento, o el movimiento de una vela cuando pierde viento y comienza a flamear.

'Luff' se usa casi exclusivamente en contextos náuticos. Como verbo, es acercar la proa al viento; como sustantivo, es el movimiento de la vela al perder viento. No es común fuera de navegación. Se usa en frases como 'luff up' o 'the sail is luffing.'
