मुख्यतः खेल, प्रतियोगिता, या परीक्षा के संदर्भ में: 'lose to a team', 'lose to someone'. इसमें विजेता का ज़िक्र ज़रूरी है। खोई हुई वस्तुओं के लिए इस्तेमाल नहीं होता ('lose your keys' नहीं)। अनौपचारिक और सामान्य रूप से प्रयुक्त।
