책이나 인터넷, 데이터베이스에서 정보나 단어, 연락처 등을 찾는 것. 또한 상황이 나아진다는 의미도 있음.

일상적으로 쓰임. "look up a word"는 사전에서 찾는다는 의미. "look for"(찾다), "look after"(돌보다)와 혼동하지 않도록 주의.
