相手の目をしっかり見つめることで、誠実さや自信、真剣さを示す行為です。時には勇気を持って相手と向き合うことも意味します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

ややフォーマルまたは文学的な表現。'目を見て話せない'は後ろめたさ、'目をまっすぐ見る'は自信や誠実さを表します。日常会話ではあまり使われません。
