"lights out" in Japanese

Definition

決められた時間にすべての電気を消すことを指し、主に軍隊や寮、病院などで就寝や静かにする合図として使われます。日常的には寝る前に電気を消す意味にもなります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に集団生活や規律が必要な場で使われます。「就寝時間」の合図や命令です。普段の会話で単なる明かりを消す時にはあまり使いません。

Examples

When the clock strikes ten, it's lights out at the camp.

時計が10時になると、キャンプでは**消灯**です。

Please remember, lights out is at eleven in the dorm.

寮の**消灯**は11時なので、忘れないでください。
