하천이나 해안선을 따라 물이 넘치는 것을 막기 위해 쌓은 긴 흙둑이나 구조물입니다.

주로 홍수 관리와 관련된 상황에서 사용됨. 흔히 'break the levees', 'levee system', 'strengthen levees'와 같이 쓰임. 영국식 영어의 'dyke'와 혼동하지 말 것.
