Un dique es una pared larga o un terraplén construido para evitar que los ríos se desborden e inunden la tierra.
Usage Notes (Spanish)
Se utiliza principalmente hablando de prevención de inundaciones fluviales. No confundir 'levee' con 'dam' (represa), ya que el primero es un borde o muro a lo largo del río, y el segundo bloquea completamente el flujo de agua.
