Definition

何か重要なことの前に起きたり存在したりして、その出来事に備える、または原因となること。大きな出来事の直前の流れや出来事を指します。

主に大事な出来事の直前の期間や起こる出来事について表現するときに使います（例: 'the weeks that lead up to'）。文字通りの意味ではなく、比喩的な表現です。単なる『lead to』とは違い、準備や過程を強調します。

The weeks that lead up to the exam are always busy.
