驚いたときや予想外のとき、実際にその人や物を目の前で見ることを表します。本当にそこにいるという意味です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「まさか本人が…」のような意外さ、驚きを込めて使う口語表現。「there she was, large as life」に似て使う。フォーマルな場では避けること。大きさの話ではないので注意。
