갑작스럽게 쓰러지는 것, 주로 아프거나 지쳐서 또는 기절해서 넘어질 때 사용한다. 물건이 넘어질 때도 쓸 수 있다.

비격식적이고 유머스럽게 쓰이는 표현이다. 주로 사람이 급하게 쓰러질 때, 또는 많이 웃을 때 'keel over laughing'처럼 쓴다. 공식적이거나 의학적으로는 사용하지 않는다.
