Colocar dinheiro, tempo ou esforço em algo com a expectativa de obter um benefício ou lucro no futuro. É comum em finanças ou desenvolvimento pessoal.

Normalmente vem seguido de substantivo ou gerúndio ('investir em ações', 'investir em aprender'). É usado tanto para dinheiro quanto de forma figurada para tempo ou energia. Diferente de 'gastar com', pois implica expectativa de retorno.
