यह शब्द अधिकांशतः वैज्ञानिक और तकनीकी संदर्भों (भौतिकी, अभियांत्रिकी) में इस्तेमाल होता है। आमतौर पर 'inertial frame', 'inertial mass', 'inertial navigation system' के साथ आता है। रोज़मर्रा की बातचीत में नहीं मिलता।
