個人ひとりひとりの自由や独立を重んじ、集団よりも個人を優先する考え方です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「個人主義」は主に学問的・哲学的・政治的な文脈で使われます。「集団主義（collectivism）」と対比されます。「strong individualism」「Western individualism」のような言い方があります。日常的な行動の説明にはあまり使いません。
