Definition

物体が重力によって惑星や恒星などの周囲を曲線的に回っている状態。また、何かが常に中心となるものの周囲に存在している比喩的な意味でも使われます。

宇宙や科学分野で多く使われます。具体的には「〜の軌道上に（around）」という形で使われ、比喩的にも誰かや何かが常に中心的なものの周囲に関わっている場合に用いられます。

The satellite is in orbit around the Earth.
