Definition
法律用語で、裁判所やその規則に対して無礼や従わない態度を示すときに使われます。また、誰かや何かを強く軽蔑する場合にも用いられます。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
主に法廷などフォーマルな場面で使われ、『held in contempt of court（法廷侮辱罪）』のように用いられます。日常会話や軽い意味合いではあまり使いません。
