사람이나 상황을 실제보다 더 완벽하거나 이상적으로 생각하거나 묘사하는 것.

주로 사람, 관계, 과거 등에서 사용되며, 비현실적이거나 지나친 기대가 담긴 비판적 뉘앙스가 있음. 'idealize someone', 'idealize the past'처럼 쓴다. 단순히 'admire'(긍정적 존경)와는 다름.

Children sometimes idealize their parents.
