ホットケーキは、平たくて丸い、鉄板で焼くケーキで、パンケーキに似ています。「ホットケーキ」はまた、物がとても速く売れる時に比喩的に使われます。

アメリカ英語では朝食によく使われ、'pancakes' とほぼ同じ意味です。'selling like hotcakes' は「とても早く売れる」を意味します。単数形はほとんど使いません。
