Definition
Continuar a acreditar numa ideia, promessa ou regra, ou manter-se fiel a ela. Muitas vezes usado quando alguém não muda de opinião mesmo sob pressão.

Normalmente formal ou semiformal. Frequente em 'hold to your word', 'hold to a promise', 'hold to a belief'. Geralmente implica resistência. Não usar para segurar objetos fisicamente; para isso use 'hold on to'.
