Definition

वाहन में ब्रेक पैडल दबाकर धीमा करना या रोकना। इसका इस्तेमाल रूपक रूप में भी होता है, जब किसी कार्य या प्रगति को अचानक रोकना हो।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

अनौपचारिक, अधिकतर वाहन या बाइक के सन्दर्भ में। कभी-कभी रूपक में अचानक किसी कार्य को रोकने के लिए। 'suddenly hit the brakes' आम है। 'step on the gas' का उल्टा (तेज करना)।
