主に動物が冬の間、エネルギーを節約するために長期間深い眠りや活動休止の状態になること。時に人や物にも例えて使います。

'hibernating'はクマやリスなどの冬眠に使われますが、人がずっと家にいる時などにも冗談で使われます。「hibernating for the winter」は「冬の間は冬眠する」という意味です。
