تعبير غير رسمي، يُستخدم عند مواجهة صعوبات كبيرة أو ظروف غير عادلة. يُستعمل كثيراً بصيغة المبني للمجهول: 'the cards are stacked against...'. لا يُستخدم للمشكلات البسيطة، بل في المواقف الصعبة فعلاً.
