Tentar dar uma resposta ou formar uma opinião sem ter certeza, geralmente porque não há informação suficiente. Também pode significar fazer uma estimativa aproximada.

Geralmente expressa menos certeza do que 'thinking' ou 'believing'. Padrões comuns: 'guessing the answer', 'I'm guessing...' e 'just guessing'. Na conversa, 'I'm guessing' costuma suavizar a frase e mostrar incerteza.
