犬や他の動物などが、怒りや警告を表すために人や物に向かって低い声で唸ること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に犬などの動物に使うが、人にも比喩的に用いることがある。「growl at someone」は誰かに不機嫌そうに接する意味でも使う。'snarl at'よりも弱い表現。
